About
Taste of the Lower East Side began in 2000 when Grand Street Settlement staff and volunteers realized that the neighborhood’s burgeoning restaurant community was a great resource. Local restaurants and food lovers could give back to their neighbors who, despite increasing business development and gentrification in the Lower East Side, still face serious socio-economic issues and a high need for social services.
